The life in Onishi is just as it is.
A guesthouse connected to the local.

This cozy guesthouse is a space with a sense of
attachment created together with the local people
of the Onishi area, which makes you feel nostalgic,
as if you were at your grandmother’s house.

It is just there, unobtrusively.
Dynamic Nature of Onishi.

The clear stream flowing through the scenic Sambaseki Gorge and the autumn leaves coloring the mountains. Winter cherry blossoms bloom in spring and winter. Onishi is a town blessed with abundant natural resources, where you can directly experience the four seasons. Please enjoy the magnificent nature surrounding Onishi and the Guesthouse when you stay with us.

People of Onishi have a strong sense of duty and humanity.

A vessel that values what has always existed, while at the same time enjoying new initiatives and “stranger things”. The enthusiasm of the entire community to join hands and work together to improve the place where they live. The people of Onishi are the reason we were able to open our guesthouse here.

A local and global place open to people and cultures.

I love Gunma Prefecture. I love Onishi. So I want guests to know more about this place. Motivated by this simple purpose, I do my best to guide those who wish to learn more about the area. There is a “Shirooni Studio” near the guesthouse, which attracts many travelers from overseas, so there is a lively exchange among guests.

Owner’s story

I visited New Zealand to reconnect with acquaintances and to find myself. At the guesthouse where I stayed, people of various nationalities were staying for a long period of time. As we shared our lives together, we naturally became friends, sharing drinks and serving each other food from our own countries.
The experience at the guesthouse made me realize that I wanted to create such a guesthouse in my beloved hometown of Gunma, and I decided to gain experience at a guesthouse in Shinagawa, Tokyo after returning to Japan. There, I met an old man who was involved in town development, and I decided to open “ONISHI GUESTHOUSE SANTOS” here in Onishi.
